Wrestler Edge (real name Adam Copeland), host of “The Edge and Christian Show That Totally Reeks of Awesomeness” with fellow wrestler Christian on the WWE Network, is aiming towards a Hollywood role in Deadpool 2.
A recent tweet from Christina Freeman sparked the thought in his mind that he should be cast as cable in the upcoming Deadpool sequel. The tweet said –
“I’d like to see @EdgeRatedR as Cable for the @deadpool movie sequel. #Marvel Think it would be really interesting.”
Of course the star got behind the idea replying
“Yeah I could (get) behind that.”
Being a wrestler, you expect Edge to be witty on the fly, which is exactly what you are looking for in a role beside Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.
Ron Perlman (Hellboy) also had his say on portraying the powerful mutant “I’m the only one with Cable’s friggin HAIR!”, with actor Stephen Lang (Avatar) hot on his heels “Let’s lay some CABLE. You know I want it. This is pre-training. Thanks for spreading the word #Deadpool.”
Marvel Comic’s Cable creator expressed his desire to see Jon Hamm (Mad Men) cast as Cable, but eventually the decision will fall in studio execs hands, as well as director Tim Miller.
Deadpool 2 is set to release in 2017. The movie will see Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as the potty-mouthed mercenary. The first Deadpool set an unprecedented record for a rated R film, with revenue north of $760 million internationally so far. Stay tuned for more on cast and other topics related to the project.
