Some SPOILERS up to Season 6 Episode 7 – The Broken Man. What did the Sansa letter say?
Every week we are faced with numerous questions, theories and rumors regarding events that took place in the last episode.
One of those, was Sansa’s letter to someone. Most likely, many viewers were not able to make out to whom, or indeed what she was writing. The scene transpired after several failed attempts at rallying forces to fight beside her and Jon’s army, in an effort to take back their home, Winterfell.
We see Sansa branding the letter, but it is pretty blurred and not fully in frame to be easily deciphered.
Thankfully, an avid fan did us all a favor, and managed to make sense of at least some of the scribbled writing.
The text, according to the Imgur user reads –
“to protect me. Now you have a chance to fulfill your promise. […] Knights of the Vale are under your command. Ride north for Winterfell. Lend us your aid and I shall see to it that you are [well/properly] rewarded.”
This leads us to believe that the desired recipient of the letter is none other than Lord Petyr Baelish, also known as Littlefinger. It’s not too much of a surprise. Despite the fact that he almost led her to her death, in uniting her with Ramsay, she still kept him and his promise to aid her with forces from the Vale as backup. He owes her that much, at least.
Littlefinger also came to Sansa’s rescue when King Joffrey was poisoned, and it was obvious the Stark girl would have to take the blame. Eventually, it was Tyrion who was imprisoned, before he escaped with the help of Lord Varys.
