For every hundred Rattatas, Zubats and Pidgeys, there are a measly few higher ranked Pokemon. Filling your Pokedex is no easy feat in Pokemon GO.
Finding rare Pokemon is even harder if you don’t have early knowledge on their whereabouts. It would all be a little bit easier if you actually knew where to look, right? Thankfully, the infromation, coming via Wanderu is now out, on which cities are best for catching these rare Pokemon.
It may still require a cross country Pokemon chase, but hey, at least you know where to look.
Note: This list contains epic, mythical, and special Pokémon from the original Kanto region — reportedly, the only Pokémon included in the game. Based on the high frequency of Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, and Pikachu sightings, these Pokémon have been excluded from our list.
Twitter API was used in finding all the different Pokemon and the cities they populate. A hashtag was used for each Pokemon sighting, suggesting if it was a Mythical, Epic or Special Pokemon. Tweets that were considered legit, were ones that were accompanied by an actual photo. Just taking the trainer’s word for it was not a method that was used in this case.

There’s a clear trend of most rare sightings coming from Los Angeles. We can’t say if it’s because there are the most Pokemon GO players in the city of angels, if people have more time to play or if they just got lucky. We’ll leave that speculation for another time.
