Marvel and Netflix have had a strict two-series-a-year rule going since the inception of Daredevil and Jessica Jones in 2015.
2016 saw Daredevil get a second season, and Luke Cage, a character that appeared in Jessica Jones gets his own series, debuting September 30. With The Punisher, Iron Fist and a series that bundles at least four of the characters together in The Defenders, It was thought possible that 2017 would see more than two Marvel+Netflix series.
Ted Sarandos, Netflix boss, cleared things up, stating that Iron Fist and The Defenders will occupy slots in 2017, while Jessica Jones Season 2, Daredevil Season 3 and The Punisher will be pushed back to at least 2018.

You shouldn’t be too concerned of not getting a fresh glimpse of your favorite characters. The Defenders, as previously mentioned, should feature at least four of the five anti-heroes. Frank Castle, aka The Punisher will probably also make an appearance, but he was left out of the Comic-Con teaser found below.

Only time will tell if Netflix will decide to expand to three series in 2018 and onward.
