CD Projekt Red already have their name walk before them. The studio in charge of The Witcher series, is aiming to emulate some of Rockstar’s (GTA) practices for future releases.
The game studio wants to cement its place in the top echelon of developers with their next release – Cyberpunk 2077.
CEO Marcin Iwiński said the studio will never be “a 10 project studio,” but will focus on “certain things” as it grows. “The Rockstar model is nice,” Iwiński told GamesIndustry.biz.
However, the studio hopes to also maintain its independence when it comes to publishing their products. Rockstar have a big publishing house to answer to in Take 2.
“deliver [its] vision in terms of the creativity and the development, but also in terms of how [they] release the game.”
“If we look at our role models, what Rockstar is doing is amazing. It’s not like, ‘We have to ship a game or we may not hit our financial goals'” Iwiński added. “It’s, ‘Here’s GTA V, and by the way, it’s the best game ever made.'”
The game is expected to launch in 2017, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it was pushed to 2018.
In the meantime, the sutdio is launching another expansion to The Witcher 3, named Blood and Wine.
