Civil War Hauls In Estimated $75 Million In US On Opening Weekend

The highly anticipated sequel, Captain America: Civil War brings $75 million on opening weekend in the US.

Captain America: Civil War finally hits US theaters, a week after its worldwide release. The movie has grossed over $75 million Thursday and Friday in the US.

After hauling in over $291 million internationally heading into this weekend, hopes of Civil War becoming the fourth $200+ million opening weekend film are slim. Numbers so far suggest that it will reach between $175-190 million.

Fandango is reporting Civil War has generated record-breaking advance ticket sales, ranking as the online ticket retailer’s #1 pre-selling superhero movie of all time, surpassing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Avengers: Age of Ultron and The Avengers. In addition, raving reviews from RottenTomatoes (%92 critic score as of press time) and fans (IMDB 8.5 score) could well and truly boost Civil War’s fortunes.

We will update on actual weekend figures tomorrow as Disney releases more information.
