During the weekend, we reported the new Captain America is on course for a $175-190 million weekend in the United States.
Estimated earnings for Captain America: Civil War last weekend are now in and at $181.6 million, it didn’t manage to break the $200 million mark. The expectation that the Film would surpass the $200 million mark due to rave reviews from critics, didn’t pan out. This goes with additional $496.6 in revenue worldwide.
Still, this is a great day for Disney, who now have four of the five top grossing films in their arsenal. Star Wars: The Force Awakens, The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron and now Captain America: Civil War. (Jurassic World from Universal Studios holds second place behind Star Wars.)
This year should see the studio breaking more records with The Jungle Book, Finding Dory, the Marvel movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch – Doctor Strange and the Star Wars film Rogue One all hitting theaters in 2016.
Fans expecting Civil War to haul in more than BvS will have to wait for the next round. Total movie gross.
Until then, let us know in our poll which one you liked better. BvS or The Cap?
