The new teaser for Disney’s Beauty And The Beast is the most viewed teaser in history in first 24 hours.
The teaser trailer for Beauty and The Beast debuted on ABC’s Good Morning America Monday morning before appearing online. On Monday night, it also aired during the Bachelorette premiere on Disney-owned ABC.
It was viewed almost 9.2 million times. Previous record holder Star Wars: The Force Awakens had 8.8 million in its first 24 hours, followed by 6.1 million for Captain America: Civil War.
This bodes well for Disney, as they own all three intellectual properties. It has been a stellar year for the studio Giant, and Beauty and the Beasts‘ numbers can only instill optimism in the studio.
The film retells 1991’s Disney classic animated film. The film stars Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. Kevin Kline, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Audra McDonald, Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson also star in the film.
Alan Menken, who won two Oscars for the 1991 animated movie, is returning to work on the score.
Beauty and the Beast hits theaters March 17, 2017.
