The upcoming Suicide Squad rating by Warner Bros. and DC Films is Official – and it’s PG-13.
Much has been said of Suicide Squad in the recent past. People became skeptic with the quality of the movie, after the latest entry in the DC/Warner Bros. universe, Batman v Superman released to lukewarm reception.
With content matter being violent to begin with, it may surprise some that the studio didn’t go as far as the incredibly successful R-rated Deadpool by Fox, from earlier this year.
Filmmaker David Ayer did mention that he is open to R-rated sequels in the future. A spin-off is reportedly already in the works for one of the film’s characters, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie).
The initial release of BvS was also a PG-13 affair, but an R-rated cut will be available soon on digital platforms, as well as the Ultimate Edition, which will feature over 30 minutes of deleted scenes.
Synopses for Suicide Squad –
It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
Suicide Squad releases on August 5, 2016.
