The sequel to “The LEGO Movie” will arrive later than expected, as The Lego Movie 2 release date is pushed back.
Warner Bros. announced Friday that the follow-up to the 2014 animated blockbuster has been pushed back by nearly nine months, to Feb. 8, 2019. It was previously set to open May 18, 2018.
If it’s any consolation, the spinoffs “The LEGO Batman Movie” and “Ninjago” remain on tap for next year.
The calendar shuffle also sees the Gerard Butler “Geostorm” pushed back a second time, from Jan. 13, 2017, to Oct. 20, 2017, swapping dates with the Ben Affleck crime drama “Live By Night.”
“Bastards,” the comedy starring Ed Helms and Owen Wilson, also shifts from Nov. 4, 2016 — where it would’ve gone up against Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” — to Jan. 27, 2017.
