Millions of players are trying out Pokemon GO for the first time, but the Pokemon GO servers, as expected on large scale launches, can’t exactly handle the load.
Periodic outages are commonplace through the launch of bigtime apps like Pokemon GO, and Niantic Labs, developers of the game, have confirmed the server issues on the app’s Twitter page

For those who did manage to log in, connection issues and crashes have been a frequent occurrence. However, as with all big launches, we expect the outages to work themselves out as the roll-out of the app continues.
We’ll update as soon as things calm down. In the meantime, Pokemon GO is the most downloaded app on both the App Store and Play store for today.
